Insertion & Withdrawal Test ≥10,000 Cycles

Male-to-Female Connector Insertion & Withdrawal Test:

• Type-C / Lightning / Micro USB: Insert and withdraw the male connector from the corresponding female connector at a rate of 20 cycles per minute for a total of 10,000 cycles.
• USB-A: Perform insertion and withdrawal at a rate of 20 cycles per minute for a total of 5,000 cycles.
• Initial insertion force for Type-C / Lightning / Micro USB / USB-A connectors: 8–18 N. Initial withdrawal force: 8–18 N.
• After 10,000 insertion and withdrawal cycles, the insertion force of Type-C / Lightning / Micro USB connectors must remain within 8–20 N, and the withdrawal force must remain within 8–20 N.
• After 10,000 cycles, the Type-C pin height must be ≥0.18 mm.
• After 5,000 insertion and withdrawal cycles, the USB-A insertion force must remain within 8–20 N, and the withdrawal force must remain within 8–20 N.
• After completion of the test, the cable must maintain normal charging and data transmission functions.

Swing / Bending Test ≥10K Cycles

• The SR (strain relief) must extend at least 5 mm beyond the bottom of the clamp. During the swing/bending test, the cable must not contact the clamp. The radius of the clamp’s 90° rounded corner must be ≤12.7 mm.
• The test weight must be positioned 30 cm below the bottom of the clamp. If the required distance cannot be achieved, an extension cable may be added.
• Standard Data Cable: Apply a 300 g load to the sample and bend it ±90° (180° total) at a rate of 30 cycles per minute for a total of 10,000 cycles.
• 1-to-N Cable – Middle Junction Position: Clamp the middle junction and swing both the main cable and branch cable. One complete back-and-forth movement is counted as one cycle. Apply a 300 g load and swing ±60° (120° total) for 3,000 cycles.
• Acceptance Criteria: After the swing/bending test, verify that charging and data transmission functions are normal. Then manually and slowly bend the SR 90° in four different directions. Charging and data transmission must remain normal in all directions.
• Sample Requirement: Test 6 pcs per group, and all 6 samples must pass. The cable jacket must show no breakage, cracking, exposed wires, or other visible abnormalities after testing.

Hanging Weight Test ≥10 kg

• Apply a 10 kg load between the sample connector and the cable, and suspend the sample vertically for 1 minute. After the test, the internal conductors must not break, and the sample must maintain normal charging, data transmission, and tensile performance.
• For products with an SR cable-lock design, apply a 3 kg hanging load to the cable lock in the direction of the connector to simulate the impact caused by cable retraction. Keep the load suspended for 1 minute.
• After the 3 kg hanging weight test, the internal conductors must remain intact. Upload and download data functions must operate normally, and the cable elongation must not exceed 2 mm.
• After testing, disassemble the sample for internal inspection. For products using a crimping process, the crimped connection must remain secure without loosening, separation, or detachment.
• After completion of all tests, the product must maintain normal charging, data transmission, and overall functional performance.

Salt Spray Test ≥48 Hours

Salt Spray Test

• Place the test samples in the salt spray chamber at an upward-facing angle of 15°–30°. Maintain an ambient temperature of 35 ± 2°C.
• Use a 5.0 ± 1% sodium chloride solution with a pH of 6.5–7.2.
• Maintain continuous salt spray exposure across all exposed surfaces. The average spray collection rate, measured using an 80 cm² collector over 16 hours, must be 1.0–2.0 ml/hour.
• After testing, rinse samples under tap water for 5 minutes, followed by distilled or deionized water. Remove excess water by shaking or air drying. Allow samples to dry under normal atmospheric conditions for 1–2 hours. Avoid water accumulation on samples.

Test Duration:

• Standard cables: 48 hours.
• Custom cable assemblies: 24 hours.

Acceptance Criteria:

• Nickel-plated terminals: fewer than 3 corrosion spots.
• Gold-plated terminals: fewer than 5 corrosion spots.
• No mechanical damage, metal corrosion or deformation, plastic melting, deformation, or peeling. No exposed internal wires or broken conductors.

USB-A Terminal – 48-Hour Acceptance Criteria:

• No corrosion is allowed after 24 hours.
• After 48 hours, corrosion is only permitted at crimped joints and cut edges.
• No more than 3 corrosion spots per terminal.
• Corrosion length at cut edges must not exceed 2 mm.
• Individual spot corrosion must be smaller than 1 × 1 mm.
